Care

Fine jewellery is durable, yet delicate, and should be treated with care and respect. At Florence Carr, every piece is crafted to become a lasting heirloom, and with the proper care, it can be treasured for generations.

WEARING YOUR JEWELLERY

The gemstones and gold used in Florence Carr jewellery are precious materials and should not be subjected to:
  • Excessive force, including lifting heavy objects, heavy-duty housework, exercise, or sports activities
  • Chemicals such as bleach, chlorine, household cleaning products, perfumes, cosmetics, hair products, lotions, and soaps. We recommend removing your jewellery before applying or using these products.
  • Prolonged exposure to heat or sudden changes in temperature
After wearing your jewellery, gently wipe the piece with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oils, moisture, and everyday residue.
If your jewellery contains gemstones, we recommend having the settings professionally checked at least once a year, preferably twice yearly. If you ever notice movement, clicking, or looseness in a stone, discontinue wearing the piece and consult a professional jeweller immediately.
As every gemstone possesses unique properties and hardness levels, care requirements may vary. Please contact us if you would like specific guidance for a particular gemstone.

STORING YOUR JEWELLERY

We recommend storing each piece separately in a jewellery box compartment or individual soft pouch to help prevent scratching and tangling.
Gemstone necklaces should always be stored flat. When storing chains in pouches, leave the clasp outside the pouch to minimise knots and tangles.

CLEANING YOUR JEWELLERY

With regular wear, jewellery naturally collects oils, dust, and residue that can diminish its brilliance over time.
To maintain the beauty of your piece, gently soak it in lukewarm water with a mild soap solution and carefully clean with a very soft toothbrush, such as a baby’s toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint-free cloth.
Avoid ultrasonic cleaners unless specifically advised for your gemstone type.
